Suspect in Cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson’s Murder Flees During Doctor Appointment

A woman awaiting trial for the alleged murder of professional cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson attempted to escape from officers while being escorted to a medical appointment on Wednesday, according to authorities.

Escape Attempt

Kaitlin Armstrong, who is facing charges related to the death of Wilson, was taken to the doctor’s appointment by two corrections officers. While they were returning her to a patrol vehicle, Armstrong made a run for it, as confirmed by Kristen Dark, a spokesperson for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

Armstrong managed to run for over a block into a nearby neighborhood. Deputies were able to keep her in sight throughout the escape, and she was eventually apprehended.

Details about whether Armstrong was wearing restraints or the nature of her medical appointment have not been disclosed.

Apprehension and Aftermath

The corrections officers did not use their firearms during the incident, and further information about how Armstrong was captured remains undisclosed. After the escape attempt, Armstrong and the two officers were taken to a hospital for a brief examination. Armstrong was later returned to jail.

Kaitlin Armstrong, 34, became a fugitive after initial interviews with investigators and was apprehended in Costa Rica after a 43-day manhunt. She has been charged with murder and could face up to 99 years in prison if convicted. Armstrong has maintained her innocence.

Authorities revealed that Armstrong attempted to alter her appearance and used various aliases while residing in Costa Rica, where she aimed to establish herself as a yoga instructor.

Notably, Wilson had a previous relationship with Armstrong’s boyfriend, cyclist Colin Strickland, who has cooperated with investigators and is not considered a suspect.
