Woman Missing After Birthday Cruise
A woman’s birthday celebration aboard a Mississippi River cruise has taken a distressing turn as Tamia Taylor, a 21-year-old mother of two from Tennessee, vanished during the festivities. The incident occurred during a two-hour “booze cruise” hosted by Memphis Riverboats on September 9th.
Tamia Taylor was last seen boarding the Island Queen cruise around 11:30 p.m., according to the Memphis Police Department. Her two friends who accompanied her on the cruise have reported that they did not witness her disembark from the boat’s exits. This puzzling disappearance has left her family desperate for answers.
The missing woman’s mother, Debra Taylor, expressed her confusion over the situation, stating, “Nothing about this whole scenario of the night adds up.” She recounted her daughter’s friend’s version of events, where Tamia mentioned needing to use the bathroom and left her phone behind. Her friends waited for her but eventually left without her.
Worried about her daughter’s safety, Debra Taylor drove from Covington to Memphis the following day to file a missing persons report when Tamia failed to return home or respond to calls.
Authorities are actively searching for Tamia Taylor, exploring various possibilities, including the chance that she may have fallen overboard. Police boats and aircraft have been deployed to scour the river for any signs of the missing woman.
The Memphis Riverboats company, however, stated that they have “no reason to believe” that Tamia could have fallen from the cruise. They confirmed that she was last seen on the boat as it approached the harbor.
Tamia Taylor is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and was wearing a beige shirt, white shorts, a black jacket, and white shoes when last seen. Authorities are urging anyone who was on the cruise to contact the Memphis Police Department with any information.
Tamia’s mother remains hopeful, pleading with the public: “You’ve got to have hope. Anyone that knows anything, people just give us whatever information. Even if you think it’s not important, it may be more important than you think.” The search for Tamia Taylor continues as her family anxiously awaits her safe return.
