Olivia Rodrigo’s Secret Vinyl Songs: A Pleasant Surprise for Fans
Olivia Rodrigo, the 20-year-old sensation, recently gave her fans a delightful surprise. Her decision to include hidden tracks on various editions of her album, “Guts,” turned out to be a smart move.
Fans were buzzing with excitement after Rodrigo hinted at some surprises in her sophomore album. The secret? Each limited-edition vinyl version of “Guts” comes with a hidden song. This musical treasure is tucked away and plays after the last track on the standard/streaming edition, “Teenage Dream.” The hidden songs include “Obsessed” (on the red vinyl), “Scared of My Guitar” (white), “Stranger” (blue), and “Girl I’ve Always Been” (purple).
Fans were pleasantly surprised by this unexpected twist. They weren’t used to finding “secret songs” on physical copies like CDs and LPs. One fan tweeted, “Olivia having different hidden tracks on each vinyl variant is such a cool thing.” Another added, “Olivia having hidden tracks on the physical release makes my heart so happy.” A pleased fan noted, “So apparently each of Olivia’s vinyls has a hidden song at the end—the one I just heard is so good; I need it on Spotify asap.”
The buzz about these extra tracks began when Rodrigo posted a retro-inspired infomercial on her YouTube page. In the video, she portrayed “Guts” as the solution for moments when you don’t “trust your guts” in matters of life and love, or when you “hate your own guts,” or even when you feel agony over “spilling your guts to strangers.” As the 12-song tracklist for “Guts” scrolled across the screen, the video briefly glitched, revealing the bonus song titles in a blink-and-you-miss-it moment.
During a conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe before the album’s release, Rodrigo mentioned that she recorded around 25 songs for the new LP. She stated, “I think some of them will definitely see the light of day.” However, crafting an album tracklist involves intricacies, like saving some songs for later. So, while we may get to hear more of her work, some will remain hidden.
Rodrigo also shared that the album opener, “All American Bitch,” is one of her “favorite songs I’ve ever written.” It seems she’s poured her heart into this track.
Olivia Rodrigo, known for her breakout anthem “Driver’s License,” has been making waves in the music industry since January 2021. Her debut single, which featured on her album “SOUR,” resonated with many as she sang about a past relationship gone wrong. Rodrigo’s ability to express her emotions through her music has captured the hearts of fans worldwide.
She explained, “I really love the lyrics of it, and I think it expresses something that I’ve been trying to express since I was fifteen years old, this repressed anger and feeling of confusion or trying to be put into a box as a girl.” It’s clear that Rodrigo’s music is not only entertaining but also deeply personal, connecting with listeners on a profound level.
