Highway Hog Rescue in Ohio
In an unexpected and heartwarming incident, a piglet nicknamed “Pearl” found herself in a precarious situation as she dashed across U.S. Route 35 in Ross County, Ohio. Thanks to the swift action of troopers from the Chillicothe Post, her highway adventure concluded safely.
Pearl’s adventure began on September 5 when she was spotted running along the busy U.S. Route 35. It is believed that she fell from a vehicle, sustaining some road rash in the process. In response, troopers from the Chillicothe Post sprang into action, chasing her into the underbrush and securing her.
As the troopers carefully escorted Pearl back to their patrol car, she made her presence known with a loud oink. Amused, one trooper turned to the other and asked, “Now what?”
The Ohio State Highway Patrol lightened the mood by humorously noting on Facebook, “This little piggy didn’t make it to the market.”
Pearl’s fate took a positive turn as she was handed over to the caring hands of the Ross County Humane Society. Thankfully, she did not sustain any serious injuries and will soon find a new home where she can enjoy her days in peace.
This heartwarming rescue story echoes a similar incident in Pennsylvania involving “Hamilton the hog,” who kept law enforcement officers on their toes for days. The Manheim Township Police Department humorously remarked, “We are much better at catching criminals than we are at catching farm animals.”
In the end, Pearl’s tale serves as a reminder of the compassion and dedication exhibited by those who stepped up to ensure her safety and well-being.
