My daughter Becky Watts, 16, was killed by stepbrother’s partner Shauna Hoare – I’m fuming she’s been released from jail

Woman Involved in Murder of Teen Becky Watts Released from Prison

After serving eight-and-a-half years of her 17-year sentence for manslaughter, Shauna Hoare has been released from prison. She was jailed alongside her boyfriend Nathan Matthews for their roles in the murder of 16-year-old Becky Watts. Matthews was sentenced to 33 years for murdering his step-sister in a plot driven by sexual motives.

Becky was last seen alive at her home in St George, Bristol, on February 19, 2015. Matthews and Hoare suffocated her in her bedroom before disposing of her body in their car’s trunk. They later dismembered her body with tools, keeping the remains in bags and boxes hidden in a neighbor’s shed.

Becky’s dismembered body was discovered on March 3, 2015, near the flat where Matthews and Hoare lived. Both were arrested and subsequently imprisoned for their actions.

Upon Hoare’s release, Tanya, Becky’s mother, expressed her anger and helplessness. She mentioned feeling betrayed by Hoare, who she had trusted. Tanya described her feelings of anger and recalled the moments when she mistook Shauna’s voice for her daughter’s on the phone.

During her time in prison, Hoare had a romantic involvement with arsonist Bernie Chance and had plans to marry her. While incarcerated at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey, Hoare reportedly suffered severe beatings that required resuscitation twice.

As part of her release conditions, Hoare is not permitted to return to Bristol. The Home Office has not disclosed further details about her reintegration into the community.
