London’s Canals Turn into 1940s Venice with a Spooky Twist
Early morning commuters and cyclists in London were in for a spine-tingling surprise as they witnessed a chilling spectacle on the city’s canals. It was like stepping into a time machine, straight into 1940s Venice, but with a ghostly twist.
As dawn broke, a ghoulish gondola made its way through the canals, gliding past iconic spots like Little Venice, Regents Park, and Camden’s canal. But what really caught everyone’s attention were the mysterious figures on board. Dressed in all-black attire and sporting traditional Venetian masks, they sent shivers down the spines of onlookers.
One startled commuter shared, “At first, I thought I was still in a dream. But as the gondolas approached, it was genuinely spine-chilling – it definitely jolted me awake.”
These eerie characters emerged from a thick blanket of fog that enveloped the waterways. However, the spooky spectacle was not a supernatural event. It was all in good fun, marking the launch of ‘A Haunting in Venice,’ set to hit cinemas this Friday.
This spine-tingling display featured a replica Venetian gondola, with individuals meticulously dressed in costumes inspired by the movie, complete with custom-made Venetian masks. A team of special effects and prop experts spent hours studying footage to capture the essence of the film’s characters, costumes, and traditional Venetian gondolas.
‘A Haunting in Venice’ is the latest addition to the series of Agatha Christie’s Poirot films, starring renowned actors such as Kenneth Branagh, Michelle Yeoh, and Jamie Dornan. The story is set in post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve and brings back the famous detective Hercule Poirot.
Based on Agatha Christie’s novel ‘Hallowe’en Party,’ this film follows the success of ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ in 2017 and ‘Death on the Nile’ in 2022.
The chilling performance on the canals was a unique way to celebrate the launch of the 20th Century Studios’ latest film, ‘A Haunting in Venice.’ 🎬
