Who is Saadiya Khan?

Saadiya Khan is the spouse of Sadiq Khan, serving as London’s Mayor. Before his political career, Sadiq was a lawyer specializing in human rights. The couple tied the knot in 1994, the same year Sadiq began his legal career as a trainee solicitor at Christian Fisher.

Saadiya is also a solicitor, and interestingly, both she and Sadiq share a common background – both are children of bus drivers. She was raised in the Islamic faith and practices law under her maiden name, Saadiya Ahmad. She boasts over two decades of experience in criminal litigation.

Do Sadiq and Saadiya have children?

Yes, Sadiq and Saadiya are proud parents of two daughters named Anisah and Ammarah. Like their parents, the girls were raised in the Islamic faith. However, the family prefers to keep their personal life away from the public eye, so not much else is known about their children.

Sadiq Khan’s Path to Becoming London’s Mayor

In 2016, Sadiq Khan made history by becoming London’s first Muslim mayor. Born and raised in London, he inherited this role after his parents moved to the city from Pakistan in the 1960s. As mayor, Khan shoulders responsibilities ranging from policing, transport, housing, and planning to economic development, arts, culture, and the environment.

Before his mayoral tenure, from 2005 to 2016, he served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tooting in South London. He resigned from this position upon becoming mayor.

Khan achieved a remarkable feat by winning the largest number of votes in a single election by any British politician. In May 2021, he secured a second term as mayor, triumphing over Conservative candidate Shaun Bailey.
