Travis Barker, the renowned drummer, was noticeably absent from the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday, September 12. However, it had nothing to do with his pregnant wife Kourtney Kardashian's emergency surgery.

Tour Commitment in Copenhagen

Barker, aged 47, was never scheduled to attend the Video Music Awards because his band, Blink-182, had a tour stop in Copenhagen. Blink-182, comprised of Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge, was nominated for "EDGING" in the Best Alternative Video category.

On the day of the VMAs, Barker shared a series of photos on Instagram from Denmark, hours before the event took place in Newark, New Jersey. This return to the stage came after Blink-182 canceled several concerts on their international tour due to Barker's sudden departure.

Family Matter and Postponed Shows

A statement on the band's Instagram Story on September 1 explained, "Due to an urgent family matter, Travis has had to return home to the States. The Glasgow, Belfast, and Dublin shows are being postponed. More information regarding his return to Europe and rescheduled dates will be provided as soon as available."

Kardashian's Surgery

Days later, Kourtney Kardashian, aged 44, revealed that she underwent surgery due to a pregnancy complication. She expressed her gratitude towards her doctors, her husband Travis Barker for rushing to her side from tour, and her mother Kris Jenner for her support.
