It all began with a hit-and-run incident around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night in Huntington Beach. A bicyclist reported that a black Toyota had sideswiped him, causing minor injuries.

And just 15 minutes after that, a black Toyota sedan struck 70-year-old Steven Gonzales. He was alive when paramedics arrived but tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
