Suspicious Disappearance of 20-Year-Old Woman in Virginia

According to the Lynchburg Police Department's official statement on Monday, Avriel Hooks was last seen by her family on August 22, around 8 p.m. The sudden lack of communication and her unexplained absence have raised red flags, prompting officials to categorize her disappearance as suspicious.

Law enforcement has been actively involved in the investigation. Police detectives, in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, undertook a search in an area that Hooks frequented on Sunday. Regrettably, no evidence or traces have been discovered as of now.

Hooks' mother, Ashley Pittman, disclosed that she received a text message from her daughter's phone around 6 a.m. on the day Avriel was reported missing. However, Pittman doubts if her daughter truly sent the message. She noted that the wording and tone of the message were uncharacteristic of Avriel's usual communication style, raising suspicions.

The text message conveyed that Hooks needed some personal time and was at a friend's residence. However, her parents emphasize that this manner of expression doesn't align with their daughter's usual language, intensifying their concerns.

Desperation fuels the family's plea to find their missing daughter. Pittman's heartfelt message to the news outlet is simple but resonant: "Just find her."

The description provided by the police indicates that Hooks was last seen wearing black leggings, a black tank top, and pink nail polish. She stands at a height of 5 feet 5 inches.
