Florida Storm Leaves Path of Damage

A storm that rolled through parts of Florida early Thursday caused a lot of problems. It messed up cars, houses, and businesses, but thankfully, it didn't hurt anyone.

Clearwater's Close Call

Clearwater, a city near Tampa on Florida's Gulf Coast, got lucky. Two possible tornadoes showed up at about 2 a.m. on Thursday, but no one got hurt. They did, however, mess up some homes. One house's gutters even went flying and hit a car's windshield. Imagine that!

Jevon Graham, the boss of Clearwater Fire and Rescue's emergency team, said, "We were very fortunate. Nobody lost their life, which is great, but there is considerable damage to some of the houses."

Trees Down and Roofs Off

The strong winds knocked down trees and blew roofs off some mobile homes and businesses in Pinellas County. Then they headed north. In Citrus County, the storm caused so much trouble that schools had to close for the day.

The school people said, "The west side of Citrus County has experienced significant damage from an unconfirmed tornado(s) which hit the area overnight."

Traffic Troubles

Deputies had to help with traffic because the storm caused a bunch of road closures in Citrus County. A big highway called U.S Highway 19 had to close down because of all the storm damage. There were pictures of debris on the road, flooding, and damage to mobile homes on the sheriff's office's social media.

Trouble on the Atlantic Side

The storm wasn't just a problem on the Gulf Coast side of Florida. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said there was a tornado in Palm Coast, which is south of Jacksonville on the Atlantic Coast. No one got hurt, but there was a lot of damage. They said, "Please use caution in the area."

Be Careful

Even though it's not as bad now, some parts of Florida are still keeping an eye out for tornadoes. So, stay safe, folks. The storm might not be done yet.
