Suspected Serial Sex Offender Arrested in Virginia

A suspected serial sex offender in Virginia found himself in hot water after being caught on surveillance cameras near a park with children nearby. The arrest took place on Thursday evening, according to authorities.

Around 7 p.m., officers received an alert about an individual captured on surveillance cameras who matched the description of a recent indecent exposure suspect in the Groveton area, as reported by the Fairfax County Police Department.

Patrol officers from the Franconia and Mount Vernon police districts wasted no time and rushed to the scene in the 6600 block of Telegraph Road, where they spotted the suspect trying to make a quick getaway.

As the suspect attempted to escape, he started shedding his clothing, tossing them into the nearby woods.

The individual in question, later identified as 35-year-old Felix Antonio Mejias Vigil, was swiftly apprehended by officers.

Vigil is now facing multiple charges, including two counts of indecent liberties with a child under 15.

According to police, Vigil is suspected of involvement in multiple sex offenses that occurred in Fairfax County between July and September. He was caught on surveillance cameras near a park where children were present, prompting officers to act swiftly.

In addition to the indecent liberties charges, Vigil also faces four counts of actual or simulated public masturbation and false identification to law enforcement.

Currently, Vigil is being held at the Adult Detention Center without bond.
