Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Carnival Cruise Passenger

The Coast Guard's search for a missing Carnival cruise passenger has come to an end as the ship approached PortMiami in Florida.

Last Known Whereabouts

Kevin McGrath, 26, was last seen in his stateroom early Monday morning aboard the Carnival Conquest, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department. A spokesperson for Carnival Cruise Line reported that McGrath's cabinmate last spotted him at 7:00 a.m., around the time debarkation began.

Despite an exhaustive search of the ship conducted by cruise staff, McGrath remained elusive.

Coast Guard Ends Search

A spokesperson for the Coast Guard revealed that their search efforts have been halted. Their crews scoured nearly 3,300 square nautical miles over a total of 80 hours, utilizing resources such as the MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter and various boats.

Notably, the ship's surveillance systems failed to detect McGrath, and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol did not spot him during the debarkation process.

Unexplained Disappearance

Detective Angel Rodriguez of the Miami-Dade Police Department stated that McGrath was supposed to meet his family for breakfast before disembarking the cruise but never showed up.

Despite efforts to review the ship's cameras and security systems, there was no evidence to suggest that he had gone overboard.

Kevin McGrath was on a two-night cruise to Bimini, Bahamas, which makes his disappearance all the more puzzling.

His sister, Danielle McGrath, expressed her concern, saying, "It is definitely not like my brother to just up and go missing."

The family's plea for his safe return continues, with his sister saying, "Kevin, please, wherever you are, I need you home safely. We love you, we miss you, and we cannot take this."
