Reneé Rapp's Debut Album: A Tale of Resilience

In a recent episode of the "On Purpose with Jay Shetty" podcast, 23-year-old singer Reneé Rapp opened up about a challenging chapter in her life that inspired the title track of her debut album, "Snow Angel." This song, she says, embodies her newfound sense of resilience.

Rapp recounted a night out with friends shortly after a breakup in early 2022. She found herself in the company of a new group, feeling uncharacteristically carefree. However, as time passed, she realized that these newfound companions were not trustworthy.

She described a troubling incident where she woke up alone in a hotel bathroom stall at 5 in the morning, unable to recall what had happened. It became apparent to her that she had been drugged, and she made the difficult decision to distance herself from these friends and curtail her partying.

Rapp only began to grapple with the aftermath of this traumatic experience months later. She confided in her parents and some close friends, but the confusion and resentment lingered.

It wasn't until she collaborated with producer Alexander 23 for her debut album, released on August 18, that Rapp found inspiration to turn her ordeal into art. The track "Snow Angel" emerged from this collaboration, and the lyrics poignantly convey her journey of overcoming trauma.

For Rapp, 2022 became a year of "inherent resilience." She not only confronted an unknown experience but also grappled with the loss of friends and trust issues. Naming her album "Snow Angel" and making it the centerpiece of her music was her way of embracing and celebrating that resilience.

Rapp's feelings about her experience remain complex, but one thing is clear: she emerges from it with a newfound sense of strength and determination.
