Tragedy Strikes as Helicopter Crashes in New Hampshire Woods

A fatal helicopter crash in Croydon, New Hampshire, has claimed the life of the pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft. According to authorities, the helicopter went missing shortly after taking off, prompting a search and rescue operation that spanned several hours.

The ill-fated flight took off at around 7:30 p.m. on a Sunday evening. The pilot, employed by JBI Helicopter Services, soon became untraceable, as revealed in a statement from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department on Monday. The helicopter's intended destination was Quonset Point, Rhode Island, approximately 180 miles away from the departure point.

Deputy Chief Zachary White of the Croydon Fire Department reported that they received notification of a missing aircraft around 10:30 p.m.

After an extensive search, the helicopter was located several hours later, concealed within a densely wooded area near the takeoff location. Tragically, the only occupant, identified as pilot Carl Svenson, aged 73, lost his life in the accident.

Svenson had accumulated approximately five decades of experience as a pilot and had been associated with JBI Helicopter Services since the 1980s, as disclosed by the Fish and Game Department.

At present, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash. Croydon, a small town in western New Hampshire situated roughly 35 miles from Vermont, is now grappling with this tragic incident.
