Mother Pleads Guilty to Allowing 12-Year-Old Daughter to Give Birth to 24-Year-Old Man's Child

In a recent court hearing, a mother from Tulsa, Oklahoma, admitted her guilt in allowing her 12-year-old daughter to give birth to a child fathered by a 24-year-old man. Desiree Castaneda, as reported by FOX 23 in Tulsa, pleaded guilty to charges of child neglect and enabling child sexual abuse. These charges stemmed from her arrest in March 2022.

The unsettling case unfolded in June 2021 when a pre-teen girl arrived at a midtown Tulsa hospital, already in labor. According to Tulsa Police spokesman Danny Bean, the girl and the newborn's father, Juan Miranda-Jara, appeared at the hospital in a manner typical of any expectant couple. Their excitement to welcome their newborn child was evident.

However, the situation took a grim turn when hospital staff promptly dialed 911, leading to the arrest and subsequent first-degree rape charges against Juan Miranda-Jara, a 24-year-old man. In an unfortunate twist, Miranda-Jara boasted about becoming a father with a child giving birth when the officers arrived.

Remarkably, he claimed to have the family's approval and asserted that he was in a loving relationship with their daughter.

Juan Miranda-Jara's arrest for rape came as a shock since Castaneda had endorsed the relationship and even organized a baby shower in anticipation of the newborn's arrival.

The backstory revealed that Miranda-Jara had initially been in a relationship with Castaneda, and when their romance faltered, Castaneda sanctioned him dating her own daughter.

In March 2022, Juan Miranda-Jara was found guilty of first-degree rape and was handed a 20-year prison sentence. Importantly, he may be eligible for parole after serving 17 years and will also have to register as a sex offender.

Subsequently, after her confession of child neglect and enabling child abuse, Desiree Castaneda received a 15-year prison sentence. Furthermore, she will be obligated to register as a sex offender once she completes her sentence.
