Rain Kisses on TV: Making Fans' Dreams Come True

TV shows have a knack for giving us unforgettable moments, and rain kisses definitely fall into that category. Shows like "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series," "The Vampire Diaries," and "Outer Banks" have all left fans swooning over these onscreen romantic gestures.

In the fourth season of Disney+'s beloved series, Ricky (played by Joshua Bassett) and Gina (played by Sofia Wylie) gave fans a moment to cherish. It all happened when a minor misunderstanding led to a beautiful rain-soaked encounter. Fans were so enamored by this scene that they requested it from the show's creator, Tim Federle.

Federle, ahead of the Season 4 premiere, shared, “We always keep the fans in mind because we know they are why we are on the air and we want them to be satisfied. You want to surprise people, do some twists and trust your own storyteller heart. Because I think if you try to please everybody, you don’t end up pleasing anybody.”

On the other hand, "The Vampire Diaries" also had its share of a memorable rain kiss moment. Executive producer Julie Plec explained the decision to include a rain kiss in Season 6, involving Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev).

Plec reminisced, “It’s been sort of a frustrating request to fulfill because it’s just so awful to shoot. We were writing the story, and we were thinking, ‘OK, what could that memory be? What was that summer that we skipped between season four and five where they had the summer of their lives? We were just pitching all of these ideas, and then all of a sudden — I don’t even know who it was, maybe it was me, maybe it was somebody else — [said] ‘What if they kissed in the rain?'”
