Marilyn Manson Sentenced to Community Service for Concert Incident

Rock legend Marilyn Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, has been handed a fine and sentenced to 20 hours of community service. This comes after he pleaded no contest to an incident during a 2019 concert where he blew his nose on a camera operator.

The 54-year-old musician appeared in court on Monday, facing two misdemeanor charges of simple assault for his actions during the New Hampshire concert.

In a "no contest" plea, Manson does not admit guilt but acknowledges the charges. As part of this agreement, prosecutors dropped the charge alleging that he spat on the camera operator.

He now faces a fine of just over $1,400 (£1,131), with $200 (£161) suspended, and must maintain an arrest-free record while informing local police of any performances in New Hampshire for the next two years.

During the concert, Manson got up close to camera operator Susan Fountain and spat a "big loogie" at her, according to police records. A police sergeant reviewing the footage noted that Manson blew a "significant amount of mucus" at Fountain and later laughed as she walked away.

Fountain described the incident as "the most disgusting thing a human being could have done."

Initially, Manson had pleaded not guilty to both charges in 2021, with his lawyer arguing that the type of filming Fountain was doing often exposed videographers to "incidental contact" with bodily fluids.

For his community service, Manson has been granted permission to serve it in California. He mentioned the possibility of working with people in recovery as part of his punishment.

Marilyn Manson, known for his musical career since the mid-1990s, has also been involved in numerous controversies, including multiple sexual assault allegations, many of which have been dismissed or settled, including a suit from Game Of Thrones actress Esme Bianco in 2021.
