Accusations Against Houston Rockets' Kevin Porter Jr.: Girlfriend's Attorney Disputes Claims

In a recent and shocking development, Houston Rockets' guard Kevin Porter Jr. has been accused of assaulting his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, in a New York City hotel room. However, Gondrezick's attorney, Robert Hantman, vehemently denies these allegations, asserting that the claims do not align with the truth.

Hantman asserts, "Statements that were attributed to her were not her words. She says he didn’t strike her repeatedly. He’s a big guy. If he hit her repeatedly, she’d have a broken jaw."

On September 11th, Porter, 23, was arrested at the Millennium Hotel in Manhattan after hotel staff discovered Gondrezick, 26, in a hallway, covered in blood. She had fled her room and called the police, according to prosecutors.

Serious Allegations and a Controversy Unveiled

Assistant District Attorney Mirah Curzer, during Porter's arraignment, detailed the allegations, claiming that Porter repeatedly punched Gondrezick, resulting in a gash to her right eye, as well as strangulation and a broken bone in her neck.

The criminal complaint goes further, alleging that Gondrezick suffered a "fractured vertebrae" in her spine. However, it has come to light that Gondrezick had a congenital defect, which was mistaken for a cracked vertebra, according to forensic pathologist Michael Baden.

Porter faces second-degree assault charges for the neck fracture, which appears unrelated to his actions, as well as second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault.

Questions Surround the Charges

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has not provided any comment on whether they intend to drop the most serious assault charge.

Gondrezick's attorney expressed his client's frustration with the complaint, particularly concerning the claim that Porter choked her to the point of difficulty in breathing. Hantman stated, "According to her, she wasn’t being strangled. That was an exaggeration. She doesn’t want the public to think that what was said by the government were her words."

As of now, Gondrezick has not spoken with the district attorney's office, citing trauma and exaggeration due to the high-profile nature of the case.

A Swift Altercation with Unanswered Questions

The attorney admits to not knowing the exact cause of the altercation that night. Gondrezick and Porter had been out together, but she returned to the hotel room before him. When he arrived, he did not have a key, and security allowed him entry.

Hantman described the situation, saying, "There was an altercation, which was over very fast. Everything happened very fast."

NBA Commissioner's Response

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has commented on the allegations, calling them "horrific." He mentioned that the league is actively investigating the matter and urged caution in drawing conclusions solely from headlines.

Previous Incidents and a Threat

This is not the first time Porter has faced accusations of violence towards Gondrezick. In a prior incident, he reportedly rammed his car into hers.

Furthermore, in a now-expired Instagram story, Gondrezick's sister issued a stern warning to Porter. She wrote, "If you think you gone touch my sister & not get touched. Count ya f---ing days. Better hope and pray you'll be able to walk again let alone dribble."

Legal Process Unfolding

Porter was released on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court on October 16. His defense attorney has not commented on the case.
