A Las Vegas police officer found themselves in a dangerous situation when a robbery took an unexpected turn inside their own home. The incident occurred near Lone Mountain Road and the 215 on a Friday afternoon, as reported by 8 News Now. While the officer's identity remains confidential, they are currently recovering in the hospital.
Targeted by Suspects
The officer's family believes that the suspects intentionally singled out the officer as their victim. In a recent interview with 8 News Now, the officer shared that they sustained two gunshot wounds to the leg when two individuals attempted to rob their residence.
Community Concerns
Residents in the Northwest Valley neighborhood, where the officer resides, are understandably concerned about their safety following this shocking event. Chris Ideker, a neighbor, expressed his worries and suggested enhancing security measures such as installing surveillance cameras in the neighborhood to keep a watchful eye.

Several neighbors witnessed a chaotic scene, with marked and unmarked police vehicles present at the property. Detectives are investigating whether the suspects managed to breach the officer's home by climbing over a wall, despite the home being situated within a gated community.

The neighbors are troubled by the fact that an officer could be shot in broad daylight inside their own home. Ideker, who witnessed the aftermath, described seeing the injured officer and the need for immediate medical attention.
