Escaped Convict Believed to Have Broken into Home, Manhunt Underway

Pennsylvania officials are working tirelessly to apprehend Danelo Souza Cavalcante, an escaped murder convict who is believed to have broken into a home in Pocopson Township. Cavalcante managed to escape from Chester County Prison last Thursday morning, with the U.S. Marshals Service revealing that he's also wanted for a homicide in Brazil. The fugitive is suspected to be heading south.

Immigration authorities have stated that they lack certainty regarding his entry into the U.S., asserting that he wasn't inspected or admitted by a U.S. immigration official, according to information provided to Fox News Digital.

During a press conference held on Saturday afternoon, Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan disclosed that officials have reason to believe Cavalcante attempted to break into a home but was thwarted in his attempt.

Sighting on Residential Camera, Ongoing Manhunt

Danelo Cavalcante, a 34-year-old Royersford resident, was caught on a residential surveillance camera on September 2, 2023, around 12:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Lenape Road, roughly 1.5 miles away from the prison. The Chester County District Attorney's Office reported his appearance as unchanged—wearing pants, a light-colored t-shirt, white sneakers, and carrying a backpack. A separate report of an attempted burglary was received at 11:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Ballintree Lane in Pocopson Township.

The sighting took place within Pocopson Township, prompting Ryan to urge residents to stay indoors for their safety.

Caution Urged, Convict Considered Highly Dangerous

Danelo Cavalcante was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend in 2021 and subsequently sentenced to life in prison. Law enforcement officials are strongly advising residents in the area to remain indoors, secure their vehicles, review surveillance cameras, and promptly contact the police if any suspicious activity is observed. Ryan emphasized the need for vigilance in assisting with the ongoing search, stressing that if Cavalcante is spotted, the public should not approach him but immediately dial 911.
