Authorities in Missouri have successfully recaptured Tommy Boyd, a 45-year-old convicted sexual predator who escaped police custody while serving a 30-year sentence for statutory sodomy. Here's what happened:

Tommy Boyd was reported missing when he left Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis around 3:55 a.m. on Thursday. However, the good news is that he was placed back into custody the same evening, thanks to the diligent efforts of law enforcement.

The St. Louis County Police Department's Special Response Unit located and apprehended Boyd without any issues. They had been following leads, and their collaborative efforts with local, state, and federal law enforcement paid off.

Escape from Hospital

Boyd had initially been transported from the Potosi Correctional Facility to the hospital for medical treatment. Surveillance cameras captured his escape from the hospital, which led to the search.

According to the St. Louis police, Boyd was last seen by hospital staff around 3:54 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Surveillance footage showed him leaving the hospital on foot, heading in an unknown direction.

Boyd is described as a white male, 5'7" tall, weighing 154 pounds, with balding hair and a beard. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a black sweatshirt, black jacket, and orange slippers. Authorities emphasize that he should be considered dangerous.

The nearby Lindbergh Schools went into lockdown as a precautionary measure, as reported on the school district's website.
