Key ISIS Collaborator Captured in Successful Raid

In a recent operation, a high-ranking ISIS collaborator, Mamduh Ibrahim al-haji Shaykh, was apprehended in northern Syria. U.S. Central Command confirmed this significant development on Saturday.

The successful capture took place during a helicopter raid conducted in partnership with U.S. Syrian Kurdish fighters. Lt. Col. Troy Garlock, a spokesperson for USCENTCOM, reiterated their unwavering commitment to the ongoing effort to defeat ISIS.

During the operation, no civilian casualties or injuries were reported. The military identified the suspect as an "ISIS Facilitator," who is also known by the alias Abu Youssef.

This operation, which occurred in the city of Raqqa, was executed in collaboration with the Syrian Democratic Forces. The U.S. and its allies have been consistently targeting ISIS leaders still operating within Syria.

In 2019, U.S. forces eliminated the head of the organization, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, while subsequent ISIS forces have operated in smaller, decentralized cells.

Back in July, U.S. forces also took down a high-ranking ISIS leader, Usamah al-Muhajir, in an eastern Syria airstrike, according to USCENTCOM.

General Michael Kurilla, the commander of CENTCOM, emphasized their steadfast commitment to defeating ISIS in the region, highlighting that the threat posed by the extremist group extends well beyond the immediate area.
