Tragedy Strikes Tennessee Waterway: 9-Year-Old Boy and Father Lose Lives in Jet Ski Collision

In a heartbreaking incident on a Tennessee waterway, a 9-year-old boy lost his life in a jet ski collision, alongside his father, 36-year-old Steven White. The accident occurred when their jet ski collided with a barge over the weekend. It was a grim turn of events, with the child's body being recovered nearly 24 hours after the crash, despite the immediate efforts of search crews.

The tragic incident unfolded on Cheatham Lake, located northwest of Nashville, around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The jet ski operated by White and his son collided with a barge that was being pushed by a tow boat, as reported by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Crew members aboard the Hines Furlong tow boat reacted swiftly, attempting to assist the distressed riders by deploying a vessel into the water. Unfortunately, they found Steven White unresponsive and without a pulse. Despite their valiant efforts, White was later declared deceased by first responders.

The search for the 9-year-old boy began immediately but initially proved unsuccessful. Search crews tirelessly continued their efforts, finally recovering the young boy's body on Sunday.

It's worth noting that both Steven White and his son were wearing life vests at the time of the tragic collision, underscoring the importance of safety precautions in recreational water activities.
