Pakistan Arrests Suspects in Mosque Attack

In a recent development, Pakistan has announced the arrest of several suspects involved in the killing of a member of an outlawed anti-India militant group during an attack inside a mosque. This incident occurred earlier this week, and the arrests were made in multiple raids over the past two days.

The attack took place in the city of Daska, located in the eastern Punjab province. Two gunmen entered a mosque and opened fire on worshippers. Tragically, three individuals lost their lives in the attack, including Shahid Latif, a member of the outlawed anti-India militant group. Latif was known to be closely associated with Masood Azhar, the founder of the Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but local police suspect that Latif was intentionally targeted. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

According to Usman Anwar, the police chief of eastern Punjab province, a hostile spy agency from a foreign country is believed to be behind this attack. Authorities are working to uncover more details related to this matter.

Jaish-e-Mohammad, the militant group with connections to the victim, has been accused by neighboring India of carrying out multiple attacks on Indian soil in the past. One notable incident includes the 2016 attack in which seven soldiers were killed at a base in the town of Pathankot in northern India.

It's important to note that Pakistan and India have a long history of strained relations. Since gaining independence from Britain in 1947, the two South Asian nations have engaged in three wars, two of which were over Kashmir, a disputed Himalayan region claimed by both countries in its entirety.
