Bel Air Home Once Owned by Alfred Hitchcock Sells for $8.8 Million

A piece of Hollywood history changed hands as a Bel Air residence, once home to the legendary filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock, found a new owner for a cool $8.8 million.

Hitchcock's Iconic Stay

Alfred Hitchcock, the master of suspense, called this place home from the early 1940s until his passing in 1980. The celebrated director and his family made the move from England to Los Angeles in 1939, and their life in Tinseltown was nothing short of legendary.

The Hollywood Journey

Hitchcock's Hollywood debut, "Rebecca," hit the screens in 1940, marking the start of a remarkable career. Over the years, he thrilled audiences with unforgettable classics like "Strangers On A Train" (1951), "Rear Window" (1954), "To Catch A Thief" (1955), "Psycho" (1960), and "The Birds" (1963). His work earned him a staggering 46 Academy Award nominations, including five nods for Best Director, though he never took home an Oscar.

Meet the New Owner

Dutch millionaire Reinout Oerlemans, a 52-year-old entrepreneur and former TV soap star, secured the property in August. Oerlemans, who founded TV production company Eyeworks in 2001, now calls this piece of cinematic history home.

The Bel Air Abode

Situated atop Sunset Boulevard and bordering the Bel Air Country Club's golf course, the residence covers nearly 7,300 square feet on a generous two-thirds of an acre lot.

A Glimpse Inside

As you step through the entrance, a red clay tile-lined foyer welcomes you with a fountain overlooking a lush garden. A long hallway leads to a spacious living room with inviting, plush furniture.

The kitchen is a vision with blue, hand-painted tiles and a sizable countertop island. A casual dining space carries on the blue theme.

The formal dining room stands out with a grand crystal chandelier and ornate wood-carved doors. Upstairs, a hidden office space or private bedroom awaits.

The backyard is a retreat, featuring a serene garden and a refreshing pool. A cabana-like area by the pool offers a perfect spot for outdoor gatherings, come rain or shine.
