Alabama Man Convicted of Sexual Abuse and Robbery of Women He Met Online

In a recent verdict, an Alabama man, Jonathan Lockett, has been found guilty of a range of criminal charges, including rape, robbery, sexual torture, and theft. This conviction comes after a lengthy jury deliberation that spanned seven hours, commencing on a Friday.

According to reports from Birmingham news outlets, Lockett was convicted for his actions against women he had met on websites. The prosecutors, Isabella Colombo and Julie McMakin from Jefferson County, argued that Lockett specifically targeted vulnerable women who had fallen on hard times and were engaged in prostitution.

During the trial, Lockett defended himself by claiming that these encounters were consensual. Nevertheless, the jury found him guilty of a series of crimes that occurred between October 2019 and November 2020, involving a total of five victims. The charges against him include five counts of sodomy, four counts of robbery, and one count each of rape, sexual torture, and theft.
