Tragic Loss of Young Girl at Water Park: Drowning Incident at Liquid Leisure Park
In a somber revelation today, an inquest uncovered the heartbreaking details surrounding the passing of a young girl during a party at a water park. The incident occurred at Liquid Leisure Park in Datchet, Berkshire, last August, when 11-year-old Kyra Hill found herself in distress within a designated swimming area.
Senior coroner Heidi Connor conveyed her deepest condolences to Kyra’s family as she disclosed that a post-mortem examination had confirmed drowning as the cause of the girl’s untimely demise. This tragic event transpired merely two weeks before Kyra’s anticipated 12th birthday.
During a court hearing at Berkshire Coroner’s Court, Kyra’s father, Leonard Hill, and mother, Heather Parker, were present. They were informed that they would have an opportunity to celebrate Kyra’s life outside the context of the distressing evidence once a comprehensive inquest is held in the future.
Ms. Connor temporarily adjourned the proceedings to accommodate an ongoing police investigation. It was last August 6, a little before 4pm, when emergency response teams were urgently dispatched to the water park. Unfortunately, it took an hour and fifteen minutes to locate Kyra within the swimming area. Despite her swift transport to a hospital, Kyra’s life could not be saved, and she was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
Following this tragic incident, Liquid Leisure Park underwent closure for a number of weeks, only reopening for specific activities in October of the same year. In the aftermath, Kyra’s father bravely shared his feelings, describing the distressing CCTV footage as resembling a “horror movie.” He recounted the agony of replaying the events in his mind constantly, his heartache at the sight of his child in the hospital and morgue, and the chilling recollection of touching her cold body with fluids emanating from her nose.
