WATCH: Philadelphia looters break into, ransack locally owned pharmacy with axes, hammers, steal medication

Thieves Go on Rampage in Philadelphia, Looting Pharmacy

In a daring and dangerous incident, surveillance footage has captured a group of thieves wreaking havoc in a Philadelphia pharmacy. Armed with axes and hammers, they left a trail of destruction in the City of Brotherly Love.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Northwest Detective Division recently shared the video from September 26. The authorities hope that it can help identify these individuals, who are wanted for looting various businesses.

Group of looters smashing into a pharmacy

The thieves targeted a small, local pharmacy, making off with “all medication,” according to law enforcement. Their reckless actions resulted in estimated damages and theft totaling $150,000.

The incident unfolded at Fairmount Pharmacy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at 10:50 p.m. Armed with hammers and axes, the group forcibly entered the property by smashing through the front window and door.

The surveillance footage captured the moment the group breached the pharmacy’s gates and began stuffing medications into their sweatshirt pockets.

The pharmacy’s owner, Gerald Volgraf, revealed that the thieves spent less than two minutes in his store but caused a significant amount of damage. They also managed to grab $68 from the cash register and prepackaged prescriptions.

Volgraf received a call about the robbery from the tenants living above the pharmacy around 3 a.m. He arrived to find his store in disarray, gates torn off, and medication missing.

“We opened at 9 o’clock this morning, and we’ll be open at 9 o’clock tomorrow,” Volgraf stated, emphasizing their commitment to the community and refusal to be discouraged by such setbacks.

This incident occurred just weeks after Philadelphia experienced two consecutive nights of looting on September 26 and 27. Over 50 arrests were made, including one suspect out on bail for a major murder case from the previous year.

These actions have left local businesses, like the Fairmount Pharmacy, facing challenges, but their resilience and determination remain unshaken.
