A Blast from Reality TV’s Past: Kristin Cavallari and Brody Jenner Spill the Beans on ‘The Hills’
Over a decade has passed since the final curtain call of ‘The Hills,’ yet this reality TV gem still sparkles in the annals of television history. Its iconic finale, in particular, left an indelible mark.
After years of speculation that the show was scripted, Kristin Cavallari and Brody Jenner playfully confirmed the rumors in the show’s closing moments. As Cavallari, now 36, bid farewell to Jenner, 40, the camera pulled back, revealing that the Hollywood sign in the distance was nothing more than a prop — they had been filming on a set all along.
Cavallari shared in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, “I actually don’t remember this scene. It’s like I’m seeing it for the first time.”
With a grin, Cavallari agreed to reenact the final scene with Us. As she did, her memory slowly returned. “God, that’s so funny,” she said. “Is this when we’re standing outside of the car? It all came flooding back.”
She also revisited her explosive Season 5 confrontation with Stephanie Pratt and Audrina Patridge, assuring Us it was “not scripted,” despite the series finale’s wink at the show’s behind-the-scenes workings.
“I’ll give you the backstory on this one,” Cavallari explained. “This was my first real scene filming for ‘The Hills,’ and Audrina and I talked prior to this. We kept saying, ‘We know the producers want us to fight. We’re not falling for that. We’re not doing it.'”
When ‘The Hills’ first graced our screens in May 2006, it looked vastly different from its revival, ‘The Hills: New Beginnings.’ Regardless of the version, fans remain captivated by the cast’s untold stories.
Drama found Cavallari and Pratt anyway when Pratt confronted her for talking to Justin “Bobby” Brescia. Cavallari recalled, “They started coming at me for talking to Justin, and I was like, ‘What?’ So, we just had this conversation. I was like, ‘I thought we were buddies. What?’ And we had a bottle of tequila also, which didn’t help.”
But today, while Cavallari is content to revisit her reality TV days, she’s preparing for the launch of her new podcast, “Let’s Be Honest With Kristin Cavallari,” debuting on September 12.
“Since I first started on TV at 17, my image has been controlled to a degree,” she shared with Us. “So, this is the first thing I’ve done where I’m like, ‘This is the real me for the first time in my entire career. I’m in a really good place in my life, and I feel like I can finally open that door and let people in.'”
