Tragedy Strikes: Virginia Woman Killed by Tire Crash
In a devastating incident, a 53-year-old Virginia woman lost her life when a tire struck her vehicle on Sunday. The unfortunate accident occurred as she and her family were en route to a theme park. Tammy Parsons, a dedicated grandmother from Williamsburg, was traveling with her fiancé, two children, and two grandchildren in a Ford Explorer along Interstate 64 in York County when the tire came loose from a Jeep traveling in the opposite direction, colliding with the driver’s side of their SUV.
Tragically, Tammy Parsons was pronounced dead at the scene. Her fiancé, Joseph Palumbo, spoke about her unwavering commitment to her family, saying, “She was 100% committed to her kids, all the way, there was nothing, nothing she wouldn’t do. She is by far the best woman I’ve ever met in my life… I lost a soulmate.” Their relationship spanned over a decade.
Thankfully, no other members of the family were injured in the accident. Authorities are now considering potential charges in connection with the incident. Notably, neither alcohol nor speeding were factors in the crash.
Joseph Palumbo shared a harrowing account of the incident, highlighting the heroic actions of Tammy Parsons’ daughter, Skyler, who helped prevent further harm to the family. He remarked, “When that tire hit, her second-oldest daughter jumped up over her mom to help me slam that car into the guardrail, so we would stop and not crash and possibly get killed. That takes pure strength in my eyes. And you know what? That comes from their mom.”
The family had been on their way to Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream event in Williamsburg when the tragic accident occurred. In a poignant twist, Joseph Palumbo received an unexpected Halloween decoration that Tammy Parsons had ordered before her untimely passing, bringing a bittersweet moment. He expressed, “This is how I’m going to look at it. [She] gave her life to save everybody that was in that car. We all walked away that day because of her.”
Our thoughts go out to the family during this challenging time. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Virginia State Police for further details on the incident.
