Vermont Man Admits Killing Mother and Son in Their Home
In a startling confession, a Vermont man has admitted to the police that he took the lives of a mother and her son in their Whittingham residence. Authorities report that Christopher Ellis, aged 54, is set to face charges of two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Michael Garvin, aged 52, and Lucy Garvin, aged 79. The discovery of their lifeless bodies was made by a family member last Friday.
Ellis came under the radar when he was arrested on Friday while driving Michael Garvin’s missing pickup truck, as per Vermont State Police.
According to a police affidavit, Ellis chillingly confessed to plotting and executing the murders, which he claimed took place either last Wednesday or Thursday. His actions were premeditated, and he provided this disturbing information to law enforcement. Attempts to reach his public defender for comment were unsuccessful.
Ellis shared that he had met Michael Garvin during a jail stint and had been living with the Garvins since April. He expressed dissatisfaction with the living arrangement and cited enduring “mental and psychological abuse,” which drove him to develop a strong animosity towards Michael Garvin.
Furthermore, Ellis admitted that he had been contemplating the act for several weeks and even described how he acquired a firearm, as documented in court papers. He expressed regret that Lucy Garvin was in the house at the time but callously stated that “she had to go,” as detailed in the police affidavit.
In a shocking revelation, Ellis disclosed his lack of a retirement plan and his preference for incarceration over residing in an “old folks’ home,” as stated in the affidavit.
Following the tragic events, Ellis confessed to fleeing the scene in Michael Garvin’s truck, using it to purchase crack cocaine. He subsequently traveled to Holyoke, Massachusetts, where he sold the firearm and exchanged the proceeds for cocaine, according to law enforcement reports.
