Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Plot to Firebomb BLM Protest
A man linked to a far-right extremist group that aimed to overthrow the U.S. government has been handed a life sentence with the chance of parole. His conviction is tied to a plot to firebomb a Black Lives Matter protest in Las Vegas back in 2020. The sentencing took place on Tuesday, following a plea agreement in a Las Vegas court.
Stephen Parshall, hailing from Las Vegas, Nevada, received the life sentence for his involvement in planning an attack against anti-racism protestors in 2020. Parshall pleaded guilty in June to charges of aiding, conspiring, or socializing to commit an act of terrorism, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
In March, Parshall received a separate 33-year federal prison sentence with lifetime supervision upon release, as he had pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a young girl. This disturbing abuse came to light during the investigation into Parshall’s plot to incite violence at the Black Lives Matter protests in Las Vegas. Shockingly, the abuse began when the victim was under the age of 10, according to federal prosecutors.
Authorities disclosed that Parshall, along with two co-conspirators, was initially arrested by Las Vegas police in May 2020 while they were in the midst of filling glass bottles with gasoline, intending to firebomb the Black Lives Matter protest. Initially indicted on multiple counts related to terrorism and explosive charges, several of these charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
As of the time of this report, there has been no response from Parshall’s lawyer to an email request for comment on the matter.
