Internet Restored at University of Michigan Following Service Interruption
After a weekend of disrupted internet service due to a security issue, the University of Michigan is back online and operational, according to officials. The restoration of internet access comes just in time for the start of the school year.
The issue began last weekend, causing a halt in internet connectivity on the main Ann Arbor campus, as well as on smaller campuses in Dearborn and Flint. The interruption, which started around 1:45 p.m. ET on Sunday, affected students and staff across these locations.
President Santa Ono reassured the university community that the internet connection is now back to normal. He stated, “You should be able to connect as normal from any device.” However, details about the security issue remain undisclosed due to the ongoing investigation. President Ono emphasized the importance of not compromising the investigation process and requested the community’s understanding in this matter.
The University of Michigan’s Ann Arbor campus hosts over 50,000 students, among whom are approximately 32,000 undergraduates. The swift resolution of the internet outage ensures that the school year can proceed smoothly for all members of the university.
