Brits to Enjoy 24°C Sunshine, Outshining Portugal’s End-of-Summer Weather
Get ready for a delightful weekend as the UK is set to bask in warm 24°C sunshine, even surpassing the temperatures in Portugal as summer makes its final stand. After enduring wet and windy weeks, the Met Office predicts a shift toward warmer conditions for the first weekend of September.
Friday might start off a bit gray and damp in certain regions, with clouds lingering. However, things are looking up, with southern parts expected to see highs of 23°C and the north reaching around 21°C, according to the Met Office. Moving into Saturday, the forecast gets even sunnier, with temperatures surpassing those in Portugal.
London is poised to hit 24°C, while Faro, Portugal, may face thunderstorms and only reach 23°C. Wales, including Cardiff, is projected to reach a comfortable 22°C, matched by northern England. Scotland will experience temperatures in the low 20s, featuring abundant warm sunshine, although the far northwest could encounter some rain later in the day.
As Sunday rolls in, parts of the country could begin with cloud cover before the sun takes center stage. Southern areas are anticipated to hover around 24°C, with the West Midlands slightly cooler by just 1°C. Much of the northern regions, like Newcastle, will enjoy sunny spells with some clouds, maintaining the same temperature as Faro.
The pleasant weather isn’t a fleeting affair either. Meteorologist Alex Deakin assures us that drier, sunnier, and warmer conditions are in the pipeline not only for the weekend but also for the upcoming week. He explained that despite initial not-so-promising charts due to low-pressure systems, a robust high-pressure system is set to bring a splendid weekend and likely extend the pleasant conditions into the early days of the following week.
This optimistic turn in the weather comes after the UK endured a summer marked by wet and windy conditions. In a refreshing change, officials issued three 30-mile flood alerts on Wednesday. So gear up to make the most of this anticipated sunshine after weeks of damp weather.
