Taylor Swift’s Movie Release Date Clashes with Upcoming Horror Sequel
Taylor Swift and Jason Blum found themselves unintentionally sharing a movie release date clash. The country-pop sensation’s concert film and Blum’s horror sequel, The Exorcist: Believer, were initially set to hit theaters on Friday, October 13. Swift’s film, a recording of her Eras Tour, was revealed on Thursday, August 31, aligning with her favorite number, 13. This unexpected overlap sparked a social media frenzy, with fans creating the #Exorswift hashtag.
Blumhouse Productions quickly responded to the situation by moving up the premiere date of The Exorcist: Believer by a week, avoiding the conflict with Swift’s movie. Blum humorously referenced Swift’s lyrics by tweeting, “Look what you made me do. The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23. #TaylorWins.”
Swift’s concert film will have multiple showtimes from Thursday to Saturday at AMC theaters across the US, as well as at various other theater chains. The movie will be approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes long, shorter than the actual concert. Tickets will be priced at $19.89 for adults and $13.13 for children and seniors, playing on Swift’s album 1989 and her lucky number.
Excited about the upcoming release, Swift shared on Instagram, “The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon 😆.”
On the other hand, The Exorcist: Believer features the return of Ellen Burstyn and stars like Leslie Odom Jr. and Ann Dowd. The sequel follows single father Victor, played by Odom, confronting an evil force that overtakes his daughter and her friend. Directed by David Gordon Green, the movie takes place 50 years after the original and is the first of a planned trilogy, with a sequel set for April 18, 2025.
