Shoe Thieves Swipe Thousands, End Up with Left-Footed Loot
Lincoln, Nebraska – In an unexpected twist, a recent burglary at a vintage clothing store left thieves with a peculiar haul this summer. The caper took place at the Exclusive Hype store in Lincoln, where thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise vanished. However, the culprits mostly departed with only left-footed shoes.
The saga began on August 18th, at 6:38 a.m., when a vigilant neighbor noticed a shattered window at Exclusive Hype and promptly alerted the authorities. The Lincoln Police Department swiftly responded to the scene, and the store’s owners were also informed.
Surveillance footage revealed a VW Atlas arriving at the location around 4 a.m., disgorging three suspects. Their first attempt to gain entry involved tugging on the store’s front door strap, which proved futile. The thieves subsequently turned to breaking a window for access.
Upon inspection, the police estimated that approximately $20,000 worth of merchandise, including clothing and footwear, had been taken. However, the plot thickened when it emerged that the stolen footwear was predominantly left shoes.
“Believe it or not, they broke in and made off with a pile of left shoes. Yes, you read that correctly, single shoes,” disclosed Lincoln Crime Stoppers. Evidently, the right shoes were stored separately within the building, as per KOLN News.
Authorities are still in pursuit of the three suspects, urging the public to share any information with the Lincoln Police Department or contact Crime Stoppers to provide tips on the case.
This curious incident echoes a similar event that unfolded in central Peru earlier this year when three culprits pilfered more than 200 sneakers from a shoe store. The stolen merchandise was valued at approximately $13,000, yet the thieves were left with only right-footed shoes. They reportedly made a hasty escape on a tricycle, as reported by Fox News.
While these tales might bring a chuckle, law enforcement remains steadfast in their pursuit of those responsible for these bizarre thefts.
