Suspected Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Linked to 2 More Victims

Allegations Surface in Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Case

Suspected serial killer Rex Heuermann faces fresh allegations of being a habitual user of sex workers who frequented "swinger" parties. In a recent news briefing, Long Island attorney John Ray revealed that Heuermann had direct encounters with two women whose deaths parallel those of three other victims he's accused of murdering. It's important to note that no new charges had been filed at the time of the briefing, and Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney distanced himself from the claims.

Family Attorney Shares Insights

John Ray, representing Shannan Gilbert's family, highlighted Heuermann's connections to the case. Gilbert, a sex worker, went missing in 2010, sparking an extensive search that led to the discovery of ten other bodies, including the "Gilgo Four" linked to Heuermann. The lawyer stated that a witness, upon seeing news coverage of Heuermann's arrest, contacted him with information about Heuermann's involvement in Gilbert's death and Karen Vergata's disappearance.

Complex Connections Emerge

The witness claimed that Heuermann had lured Gilbert in 2009 with the promise of money, only to give her an envelope filled with paper. Another unnamed witness revealed their participation in a 1996 "swinger" party, where they encountered Heuermann and Vergata. The witness alleged that Heuermann was a frequent user of sex workers and had even engaged in sexual encounters at his home while his wife was in another room.

Denials and Legal Disputes

Despite these allegations, Heuermann's wife's attorney, Bob Macedonio, vehemently denied any knowledge of her husband's illicit activities, describing the claims as "ludicrous." Heuermann's wife, Asa Ellerup, filed for divorce after her husband's arrest, asserting that she was unaware of his actions. Attorney John Ray has been accused of attempting to stay relevant in the case.

Official Response

Suffolk County District Attorney Tierney's office released a statement indicating that they were not informed of the allegations in advance, and they emphasized the potential conflicts of interest that attorneys representing victims' families may have. Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison confirmed that the task force was investigating the new information and would follow leads as they developed.

Rex Heuermann, who has pleaded not guilty to his current charges, could face life imprisonment without the possibility of parole if convicted. The case continues to evolve as new details emerge.
