Explosion at Archer Daniels Midland Facility Injures Employees

An explosion rocked an Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) facility in Decatur, Illinois, on Sunday evening, injuring several employees and creating a towering column of smoke. The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at ADM’s east plant within the processing complex.

ADM, a prominent agricultural company, confirmed the injuries and quickly transported the affected employees to a nearby hospital. As of now, the cause of the explosion remains unknown, and the Decatur Fire Department was promptly notified.

Smoke Plume Captured on Video

A striking video posted by WCIA-TV shows a massive plume of dark smoke billowing high into the sky above the ADM facility, painting a vivid picture of the incident.

Decatur, situated approximately 40 miles east of Springfield and 180 miles southeast of ADM’s headquarters in Chicago, became the site of this unexpected event. As of early Monday, ADM has provided no further details regarding the incident.
