Two Bus Drivers Seriously Injured in Wisconsin Collision
In a harrowing incident on Wednesday afternoon, a city bus and a school bus in Racine, Wisconsin, collided, resulting in serious injuries to both drivers. The collision occurred near the intersection of Goold and Shoop streets, and eyewitness video footage captured the dramatic moment when the two buses met, causing the school bus to tip onto its side.
According to local authorities, the school bus was carrying its driver and an assistant at the time of the crash. Fortunately, no students were on board, and the community’s thoughts are with those injured.
On the city bus, it is believed that seven to eight passengers were present. Some sustained minor injuries and received medical attention.
Emergency services, including Flight for Life, were dispatched to the scene, though it remains unclear whether the most seriously injured drivers were airlifted to the hospital.
The exact cause of the accident is currently under investigation. However, residents in the neighborhood suspect that a tree obstructing a stop sign may have played a role.
Neighbor Bryan Zimmerman shared his thoughts, saying, “It’s a little traumatizing, especially during the first week of school. It’s ridiculous.”
As investigations continue, both buses remain at the scene, and cleanup efforts are ongoing.
RYDE Racine issued a statement, expressing their concern for the injured parties and their cooperation with the Racine Police Department during the ongoing investigation. Further updates will be shared with the public and riders as more information becomes available.
