Rhode Island’s T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick has concluded a brief lockdown, assuring travelers that the security concern prompting it was ultimately without merit. The incident unfolded on Friday, with the airport sharing updates online as events transpired.
Around noon, the airport announced the lockdown, prompting travelers to be cautious and airlines to address potential delays. However, roughly 45 minutes later, police confirmed that there was no substantial security threat, leading to the lockdown’s swift resolution.
The security scare originated from a phone call indicating a potential individual armed with a rifle at the airport. Following this report, Warwick Police Sgt. Jason Brodeur initiated an investigation, leading to the lockdown as a precautionary measure.
