Real estate agent found murdered after suspicious phone activity

Real Estate Agent Found Dead in Los Angeles Apartment

The family of a 31-year-old real estate agent in Los Angeles was alarmed when their iPhone messages to her suddenly turned green, a sign that she hadn’t received them. Maleesa Mooney’s family had been trying to reach her since last Thursday when they contacted the police. Her younger sister, Jourdin Pauline, shared with Fox News Digital that some friends had been in her apartment, but they left, and Maleesa remained.

After Mooney’s family alerted the police, an LAPD officer visited her apartment on South Figueroa Street the following Sunday. However, they only left a card on the door without entering. Pauline stated, “They didn’t go in, they just left a card. When we went to go check on her, the card was still there.”

On that same day, text messages that had previously gone unreceived suddenly turned blue and were delivered. Pauline explained, “Her phone got alerted that it was on, and her text messages were delivering – it was whoever had her belongings was trying to sell them and had access. That gave us hope. We were thinking she was OK when the messages were delivering.”

Police didn’t return until the next Tuesday. The building’s maintenance staff let them into the “flooded” apartment where Mooney was found dead around 4 p.m., although the cause of the flooding remains unclear.

Los Angeles Police Detective David Marcinek told Fox News Digital that Mooney’s death is being investigated as a homicide, but the cause of her death is yet to be determined by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner. He didn’t share details about Mooney’s injuries or whether a suspect had been identified at this time.

Maleesa Mooney was known for her work as a real estate agent with NestSeekers International, primarily showing million-dollar homes, though she also pursued a career in freelance modeling.

In a heartfelt Instagram post with the hashtag #JUSTICEFORMALEESA, Pauline pleaded for answers and mourned her beloved sister. She described Mooney as “the most amazing girl ever” – kind, genuine, funny, and smart.

Residents of the Skye at Bunker Hill Apartments complex were shaken by the tragic discovery. One resident, Kristin Verdiun, expressed her fear, saying, “It is scary. I’m just right down the hall.”

The investigation into this disturbing case continues, with Mooney’s family and friends seeking justice for her untimely passing.
