Hospital Manager Stalked: Court Hears of Disturbing Behavior
A court proceeding has revealed the distressing ordeal faced by a private hospital manager due to a relentless stalker with racist tendencies.
Unwanted Messages
Danielle Moore, aged 34, embarked on a campaign of harassment against Priyanka Gnanasekaram via Instagram. Even after Gnanasekaram blocked her, Moore persisted in her efforts.
Inappropriate Communication
Prosecutor Bartholemew O’Toole highlighted that Moore had initiated private messages with Gnanasekaram a few years ago after initially following her. The nature of the messages quickly turned inappropriate and bizarre, causing discomfort for Gnanasekaram. She took the step to block Moore to put an end to the communication.
Persistent Pursuit
However, Moore was undeterred. She resorted to creating multiple new accounts to continue messaging Gnanasekaram, even after being blocked. One of her messages included a threatening tone, implying that she would bring matters to a higher power. Gnanasekaram, confused and anxious, requested Moore to cease her actions.
Police Intervention
As the situation escalated, Gnanasekaram warned Moore that she would involve the police if the harassment persisted. This intervention led to a temporary halt in the messages.
Physical Encounters
The stalking went beyond virtual communication when Moore appeared at the Mayo Clinic in London, where Gnanasekaram worked. On two occasions, Moore subjected Gnanasekaram to racist abuse, causing significant distress. In a particularly alarming turn of events, Moore was spotted attempting to enter the clinic while carrying two knives.
Fear for Life
The victim, originally from Canada, expressed genuine fear for her life as Moore continued to make unsettling calls even from prison.
Legal Consequences
Danielle Moore, residing in Bermondsey, South East London, faced legal repercussions for her actions. She was found guilty of stalking Gnanasekaram. In an unrelated incident, Moore confessed to wounding and causing criminal damage. Consequently, she was sentenced to 4½ years in prison by the Southwark Crown Court.
Restraining Orders
In addition to her jail time, Moore was issued two restraining orders, preventing her from contacting both Priyanka Gnanasekaram and another individual named Ms Begum for a period of 10 years. This legal action aims to safeguard the victims from further distress.
