In a cautious response to the discovery of a suspicious item, part of the ticketing area at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) was evacuated on Saturday night. The incident unfolded at the Tom Bradley Terminal around 9:30 p.m., as reported by LAX police.

The airport’s police department shared updates and instructions on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. They informed the public, “Traffic diverted to West Way due to Police activity at Tom Bradley Terminal in the upper level. Your patience is appreciated.”
A specialized bomb squad was promptly dispatched to the scene to thoroughly investigate the suspicious item. The ongoing examination of the situation concluded with the area being declared safe by close to 11 p.m.
LAX officials addressed the situation, stating, “At approximately 9:30 pm, there was a suspicious item at Tom Bradley International Terminal. Airport Police responded and set up a perimeter along with a partial evacuation.”
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Bomb Squad played a crucial role in assessing the potential threat. Their careful examination ultimately led to the determination that the item was not hazardous. In their statement, they explained, “LAPD Bomb Squad responded and determined that the item was deemed safe. Repopulation is in progress.”
