Police catch dog behind the wheel of a moving vehicle: ‘Irresponsible’

Slovakian Police Fine Driver with Dog in the Driver’s Seat

In an unusual incident, Slovakian police recently issued a fine to an “irresponsible” driver whose car’s speed cameras captured an unexpected sight – a dog behind the wheel. The story, as shared by the Slovak Police Force on Facebook, left everyone surprised.

The event unfolded in the Senice municipality, where officers encountered a peculiar scene – a brown hunting dog seated in the driver’s spot. Amused and somewhat incredulous, the police team couldn’t believe their eyes.

With a touch of humor, the police recounted how they thwarted the dog’s possible joyride near the village of Šterusy in western Slovakia. They even playfully quipped about asking the dog for its driver’s license, emphasizing that the images were indeed authentic with a clear “NO PHOTO EDIT OR FAKE” in their post.

The driver, a 31-year-old man, offered an interesting explanation. He claimed the dog had unexpectedly leaped onto his lap while he was driving. The police, however, contradicted this assertion, pointing out that their speed camera footage showed no such sudden movement in the driver’s seat.

Consequently, the man faced a fine for a traffic violation. The Slovak Police Force used this peculiar incident as a chance to remind residents to ensure their dogs are not interfering while they’re behind the wheel.

Their message was clear: “When transporting a dog, take care of the safety of the animal and the entire crew in the car. Even a small animal can endanger your life and health while driving.”

So, a word of advice to all drivers – keep your four-legged friends out of the driver’s seat, and let them enjoy the ride from the back.
