Tragedy Strikes as Small Plane Owned by Mining Company Crashes in Zimbabwe
In a devastating incident, a small plane owned by a mining company met with a tragic end in Zimbabwe on Friday. Initial reports from aviation authorities paint a grim picture, with all six individuals aboard the aircraft believed to have lost their lives.
The ill-fated plane belonged to Zimbabwe’s RioZim Limited, as confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe’s director, Elijah Chingosho. The crash site was near the Murowa Diamonds mine, located in the southwestern region of Zimbabwe, and it’s important to note that RioZim has partial ownership of this mining venture.
Local authorities, in collaboration with the police, are working diligently to provide additional information regarding the accident, including the identities of the deceased. This information will be disclosed to the families of those affected, allowing them the necessary time to cope with the heartbreaking news.
Reports from local media outlets indicate that the aircraft in question was a Cessna, a small and commonly used type of aircraft.
It’s worth mentioning that RioZim Limited, once part of the British-Australian mining group Rio Tinto, has now transitioned to being entirely Zimbabwe-owned.
