Convicted Killer Danelo Cavalcante Spotted Near Pennsylvania Town After Prison Escape
Danelo Cavalcante, a convicted killer who escaped from Chester County Prison over a week ago, has resurfaced in northern Chester County, Pennsylvania. On Saturday night, he was captured on a home surveillance camera near Phoenixville, which is more than 20 miles north of the initial search area set up to find him, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
In the images, Cavalcante can be seen wearing a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball cap, green prison pants, and white shoes. He was also operating a white Ford Transit van with Pennsylvania plates, equipped with a refrigeration unit on its roof, which was reported stolen by Baily’s Dairy.
Cavalcante was previously spotted on Friday just north of Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, where he was caught on a trail camera.
Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police expressed concern about Cavalcante’s escalating desperation, emphasizing his dangerous nature. Bivens stated, “I believe he has always been very dangerous, and I’ve said that from the start. He’s already murdered two people—one in Brazil and one here in a very brutal manner. He’s a very dangerous individual and he remains so.”
Cavalcante was convicted of the murder of his ex-girlfriend in 2021 and sentenced to life in prison. Originally from Brazil, he is also wanted for homicide there and is allegedly in the United States illegally.
Cavalcante’s escape from Chester County Prison on the morning of August 31 involved crab-walking along a wall in the exercise yard, navigating razor wire, and scaling fences. Fox News Digital confirmed that the prison guard assigned to the watchtower during Cavalcante’s escape was fired on Thursday.
Phoenixville, where Cavalcante was last seen, is approximately 13 miles northeast of the Chester County Prison. The search for him continues as authorities work to ensure the safety of the community.
