Lache Primary School in Chester took immediate action by going into lockdown in response to the email threat.

Police Investigate Threats

The Cheshire Constabulary released a statement, explaining, “At around 10:05 am on Tuesday, September 12, police were made aware of an email which had been sent to a number of schools in Chester and Ellesmere Port which made threats to pupils and staff. An investigation has been launched, and officers have been attending schools to provide reassurance.”

Detective Chief Inspector Justin Hancock emphasized, “We would like to reassure parents that this is believed to be malicious, and we are doing everything we can to locate the person responsible for these emails.”

Communication to Parents and Carers

Lache Primary School, Chester, promptly communicated with parents and carers regarding the lockdown. The email stated, “Dear Parents and Carers, we are informing you that the school is currently in lockdown. This procedure is precautionary and has been initiated due to the school receiving an email.”

It further explained that the same email had been sent to multiple schools across Cheshire, Liverpool, and Manchester. The police were notified and are actively addressing the situation. Importantly, the message assured parents that their children were safe and engaged in their learning.

The email also urged parents not to call the school to ensure the phone lines remained open. Additionally, it advised against visiting the school, emphasizing the importance of the safety measures in place. The school promised to provide updates once the police had more information to share.
