‘NSync Reunites at the 2023 VMAs, Taylor Swift Has Questions

‘NSync Reunites to Honor Taylor Swift at 2023 MTV Video Music Awards

In a heartwarming surprise, all five members of the iconic boy band ‘NSync – Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick – reunited at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday, September 12. The occasion was to present the night’s first award, Best Pop Video, and it brought back cherished memories for the group.

Chasez, reflecting on their past success, shared, “Over 20 years ago, we were just kids when we won Best Pop Video for ‘Bye Bye Bye.’ It was our first VMA, and it meant the world to us.” Bass added, “A lot has changed over the last two decades, but one thing remains constant: a creative, boundary-pushing video leaves a lasting mark for decades.”

After expressing gratitude to MTV and their fans, Fatone announced the nominees, leading up to Timberlake’s envelope-opening moment. “And the VMA goes to the unstoppable Taylor Swift,” Timberlake declared, resulting in a heartfelt embrace between Swift and the iconic boy band.

Swift, visibly touched by the reunion, humorously admitted, “I’m not doing well pivoting. Like, I had your dolls. Like, are you doing something? What’s going to happen now? They’re going to do something, and I need to know what it is. You guys are pop personified, and to receive this from your golden pop hands is — really, it’s too much. Thank you for the friendship bracelets.”

Rumors of the ‘NSync reunion began circulating after Timberlake, Fatone, Bass, and Chasez were seen separately in New York City on September 11. Kirkpatrick also posted a 9/11 tribute, sparking excitement among fans.

This reunion marked a decade since the original members of ‘NSync performed together in 2013. More recently, Chasez, Bass, Fatone, and Kirkpatrick joined Ariana Grande for a Coachella performance in 2019. Timberlake, however, missed it due to scheduling conflicts.

Speculation suggests that ‘NSync may release new music soon, with a possible role in Timberlake’s animated film, “Trolls Band Together.” The trailer hints at a boy-band theme, adding to the excitement.

As for a potential ‘NSync reunion tour, Bass expressed, “I would never say never.” He added, “I think it just has to be the right time; we all have to be inspired in the moment. But I do think the world needs something again from ‘NSync.”

‘NSync formed in 1995, delivered numerous hits, and after a hiatus in 2002, members pursued individual paths. Timberlake found solo success, Chasez became a songwriter and producer, Fatone ventured into television hosting, Bass explored podcasting, acting, and activism, and Kirkpatrick took on producing, voice acting, and television roles. The reunion, however, hinted at the possibility of a new chapter for the beloved boy band.
