Mira Sorvino’s Dance Moves from ‘Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion’ Hit the DWTS Ballroom
Mira Sorvino, known for her epic dance moves in the 1997 film ‘Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion,’ is bringing her groove to the ‘Dancing With the Stars’ (DWTS) ballroom for season 32. Gleb Savchenko, her dance partner, shared his excitement, hinting at creative plans for the show.
“When we started working together, there were so many ideas,” said Gleb, “like, ‘Oh, we can create a Romy and Michele theme and what are we doing for Disney Week? What are we doing for Halloween?’ All of those creative moments come together, and you’re like, ‘Can’t wait, let’s go.'”
Mira, the Oscar winner, famously portrayed Romy White in the film alongside Lisa Kudrow’s Michele Weinberger. In one memorable scene, the duo performed an interpretative dance with Alan Cumming’s character, Sandy Frink.
When asked if season 32 would feature a tribute to the movie, Mira remained tight-lipped, saying she doesn’t know and can’t discuss their dances.
However, Gleb confirmed, “There will be for sure, for sure. People just gotta tune in and vote for us [to see it]. Team Miraball.”
Mira, a long-time fan of DWTS, had yearned to join the show but never found the right time due to her busy schedule. Now, she’s taking a leap, considering it a year of taking chances after successful ventures like a singing residency and a one-woman show.
Mira and Gleb have been enjoying their early rehearsals, sometimes challenging but always fun. Gleb noted that they’ve had days of learning new dance styles and other days of simply sipping coffee and chatting.
‘DWTS’ season 32 premieres on Tuesday, September 26, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+.
